5 UNIQUE FEATURES of ARGENTINIAN SPANISH 🇦🇷

Argentinian Spanish is quite similar to the other Latin American Spanish varieties, but it has five characteristics that make it unique. In this video, as a native Spanish teacher from Argentina, I´ll tell you about the main slang words, expressions, intonation and pronounciation features you need to know to recognize and understand Argentinian speakers. 🇦🇷

Latin American countries have a common history. But each one has its peculiarities. Argentina received, after independence, more Italian than Spanish immigration, which changed the way of speaking and the lexicon used. Other expressions ("che boludo") come from the native peoples of the area and from the wars of independence. "Voseo" and "yeísmo rehilado" are two very notorious characteristics of our variety, and we also explain them in this video.

During the video you'll see some short clips of celebrities like Anya Taylor-Joy or Viggo Mortensen, that grew up in Argentina and speak the language as natives. Megan Markle lived in Buenos Aires for some months when she was 20, and also speaks this variety of Spanish, at a lower level of course.
