Dapoli is a Coastal Hillstation as well as a City in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. It lies 215 km (134 mi) south of the state capital of Mumbai. Dapoli is also known as Camp Dapoli as British set their camps in Dapoli. Many high-ranking British officers' graves are found in this town. The city also has an abandoned church from the time of the British Raj. Dapoli is home to one of the biggest Agricultural Universities in India, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeet. Dapoli is administered by the Dapoli Municipal Council.
Dapoli is separated from the Sahyadri range by the Khed taluka. Dapoli has a seaboard of 50 km (31 mi) which stretches from Velas, Maharashtra Velas - Kelshi in the North to Dabhol in the South. The coastline differs little in its general characteristics from that of other parts of Konkan. It is densely covered by coconut farms. The principal rivers are Bharja in the north and Vashishthi in the south. A small river called Jog flows through Bandhativare, Sarang and Tadil into the Arabian Sea.
The city is located at an altitude of 800 ft (240 m). It is also called "Mini Mahabaleshwar" because of its year-round cool weather. It is 8 km (5.0 mi) from the Arabian Sea and acts as the Main City (Taluka headquarters) for several small surrounding villages such as Agarvayangani, kelashi, Anjarle, Mandivali, Sarang, Bandhativare, Pangari, Dabhil, Sakhaloli, Bhopan, Harnai, Dabhol, Onanavse, Unhavare, Jalgaon, Devke, Gavhe, [NIGADE ]Gimhavane, Asud, Vanand, Kherdi, Karde (beach), Phansu, Pichdoli, Visapur, [[Murud, Chandranagar, Ratnagiri|Murud]] and Umberghar.
Dapoli is considered the birthplace of Dhondo Keshav Karve, whose native village of Murud is located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from Dapoli.
Pandurang Vaman Kane (the recipient of BharatRatna) was a resident of Dapoli.
The town has a very old school, A. G. High School, named after the British Alfred Gadney. During the time of the Raj, Dapoli was a military camp for British soldiers. Dapoli is also the home of agricultural university Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation abbreviated as (MSRTC, or simply ST), is the state run bus service of Maharashtra, India which serves routes to towns and cities within Maharashtra as well as to its adjoining states. It has a fleet strength of 18449 buses. It also offers a facility for online booking of tickets for all buses. Recently From 21 may 2020 Corporation Started Goods Transportation, Private Bus Body Building, Private Vehicle Tyre Remoulding.I n Future Corporation will start Petrol Pump for Private Vehicles all over the Maharashtra.
MSRTC is operating a fleet of approximately 18,449 buses that ferry 6.7 million passengers daily.
The Ordinary, Parivartan, Asiad and City Buses are built at MSRTC's in-house workshops at Dapodi, Aurangabad, and Nagpur on Ashok Leyland and TATA chassis. These workshops produce as many as 20,000 buses per year on average. The corporation has nine tyre retreading plants along with 32 divisional workshops. The Shivneri air conditioned bus service consists of Volvo 9400R buses and Scania Metrolink buses. The Shivshahi buses are air-conditioned luxury buses which are operated by MSRTC and some private contractors.
In 2018, MSRTC added approximately a 1,000 special non-AC Vithai buses, which were introduced to ferry passengers to the pilgrim town of Pandharpur in Solapur district. They have a seating capacity of 45 seats and a similar design to that of 'Parivartan' buses.
In 2019,the MSRTC introduced new non-air conditioned buses with beds and recliner chairs specially designed for long overnight routes. Extra facilities like reading lamp, night lamp, charging point, fan and two huge storage compartments have also been provided.
