Описание к видео Ireland Army Health Clinic Chapel Desanctification 2019.

Chapels are places of worship, fellowship, reflection and comfort. Army hospitals have chapels for these purposes and are governed by AR 165-1.

Ireland Army Community Hospital was constructed in the mid-1950s and dedicated at its opening in ’57 to MG Merritte W. Ireland. At that time the hospital chapel was located on the basement floor in room X-BB6B, extending back into what today is Fit for Duty, room XBB4.

In 1976 the hospital broke ground for an addition and after the completion the chapel was eventually relocated to the 2nd floor of the building. But not without a new look—a large six-panel stained glass window. Part of the desanctification ceremony mentioned these windows.

The inscription in the bottom of the far left pane says, “In Memory of Pvt. John F. Bush 1946-1966.” Documentation shows that he was born in the Chicago Ill., area.
Ireland Army Community Hospital held a dedication ceremony for the window in 1967 when Bush’s father, Charles Bush gave it to the hospital as a gift in memory of his son. The ceremony was conducted by the hospital commander, Col. Clark Williams, and the six-pane window was dedicated by Chaplain (Maj.) George Rumbley.

Bush was stationed at Fort Knox in late 1965 but became ill in early February 1966. Upon his admission to the hospital it was determined he had inoperable cancer. He passed April 5, 1966 and is buried in Mount Olive Cemetery located in Cook County, Illinois.
IRACH transitioned to a clinic in 2016, and will relocate into a new facility in Jan., 2020.

While there will be no chapel in the new facility, two of the panes from this window will be displayed in clinic along with other IRACH historical or significant times.
