LG is reportedly building the next iteration of its connected watches. The company has now received certification for its two different smartwatch models by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The two smartwatches are listed with model number W270 and W280. The second model is further listed with two variants carrying model numbers W280A and W280V, suggesting that these will be carrier specific models for AT&T and Verizon, respectively.LG smartwatches will boast a stainless steel build and come with IP67 rating. The certification for water and dust resistance would make the smartwatch waterproof up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. It is further speculated that at the heart of the new LG smartwatches will be Snapdragon Wear chipsets, but concrete details about the processor type and speeds are scant as of now. Some reports suggest that the smartwatch could make use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, which claims to offer up to 25 percent better battery efficiency than the older Snapdragon 400. The chipset also supports 3G and 4G connectivity, which falls in line with FCC certification that indicates the new LG smartwatch comes with network support.
