When it comes time to sell your home, you'll now have the option to delay public marketing for up to two weeks before your property appears on major real estate portals like Zillow and Realtor.com.

So why might a seller choose this? While this delay limits early public exposure, it gives your listing a head start within the brokerage—creating an opportunity to sell "in-house" before it hits the open market. This approach can offer a level of discretion and control, which may be especially appealing in certain personal or financial situations.

This new option is part of the industry’s response to growing interest in "pocket listings," a strategy championed by some large brokerages that allows select buyers early access to off-market homes. But Zillow is not too happy with this new option and has recently stated that any listing that goes the Delayed Marketing Exempt Listing route will be banned from Zillow for the lifetime of that listing.
