The Socorro Mission was established a day after the Ysleta Mission, and served the needs of the Piro Indians. The last Catholic Church on El Paso's Mission Trail is the San Elizario Presidio Chapel. it was built for the Spanish soldiers, and was part of a fort to guard against Apache raids.
