The total reflux operation is one of the promising modes of batch distillation. The most common cycling control proposed by Perry is that the column is operated at infinite reflux ratio and the light component is enriched in the reflux drum as the process proceeds.
This video describes the experimental procedures on batch distillation at total reflux.

ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION:
Using the X-Y equilibrium diagram for ethanol-water system, mark the top and bottom composition on the diagram and determine the theoretical number of plates in the distillation unit using the McCabe-Thiele method. Discuss the result for objectives 1 and 2.
