In this video, I show how to plant spring onions in a metal raised bed from Quictent. The raises bed was easy to set up. The soil mix for the onions consist of mushroom compost and black cow manure. To fertilize onions it is best to use bone meal, tomato tone, and blood meal. I scratch the fertilize in the top few inches of the soil. I also use liquid fertilizer after planting. In the video I use the beer fertilizer but I also use fish fertilizer as well. When the bulbs start to form back off the fertilizers. The follow-up video will compare the spring onions size to the overwintering onions. The onions are barely planted in the ground. I am hoping this will help me cut down on the amount of onions I have to ring around. That means to pull the soil back from around the bulb. This will help the onions grow as big as they can get. The soil will be out of the way so it can't hamper the onions from growing to their max size.
