Dr. Donald Reed founded the Count Dracula Society, in Los Angeles, California, in 1962, for the serious study of horror films and gothic literature, and the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films in Los Angeles, California, in 1972. He was considered the leading scholar on Count Dracula (World Almanac Book of Buffs) and belonged to several prominent organizations: The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Grammy Academy, The Cable Academy, The Academy of Country Music, The Academy of Magical Arts, The Paley Center, and the Golden Satellite Awards.

His campy Count Dracula Society evolved into the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films. The capes and fangs morphed into tuxedos and golden Saturn Awards, and by the late 70's his award show was on every TV set in the United States. Today, genre filmmakers such as James Cameron, Dean Devlin, and Bryan Singer dominate the box office, each never failing to recognize the importance of this eccentric little man's undying support for their films and their careers.

KUSC (91.5 MHz FM) is a listener-supported classical music radio station broadcasting from downtown Los Angeles, California, United States. KUSC is owned and operated by the University of Southern California. In the 1970s the station adopted a rock format. Sadly I can find no information on Mr. Straight.
