Andy Campion (B.A. ’93, ’03), former CFO of Nike Inc., delivered the commencement keynote address to celebrate the matriculation of UCLA Anderson’s full-time MBA, Fully Employed MBA, Executive MBA and Ph.D. students.

“Leaders,” Campion told the graduates, “in deciding who to promote, are actually looking for the best teammates.”

A true transformative leader, Campion has returned to his alma mater in other capacities as well, serving as director of the new UCLA Sports Leadership and Management Program. He encouraged the Class of 2024 always to “recycle positive energy” in the manner of the late, great UCLA Basketball star Bill Walton. “Be a learn-it-all, not a know-it-all,” he said.

“Grit is really important,” advised Campion. “But true grit is being determined to do whatever it takes to grind out a win for your team.”
