New Alignments, New Opportunities

For too long, West Asia has been viewed from a geopolitical lens. However, a fundamental reconfiguration of ties between traditional rivals through the Abraham Accords and the emerging I2U2 equation has opened new economic opportunities for the region and India. This is evident from developments such as the rise of regional capitals as innovation hubs, the increasing transregional flow of capital and ideas, the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the much-anticipated India-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA). At the same time, traditional economic challenges like high debt levels, inflation, and commodity-related supply-side pressures persist.
