So we know how your journey began. Tell us how you got from there to where you are today.

Dr. Karthik Ram:
During my training, I had the chance to do a short observership in Kempsford, UK. I noticed that all specialty cases like burns or hand surgeries went to one dedicated unit. That kind of focus isn’t common in Chennai, where patients have many options and cases are spread across hospitals. I realized then that if I wanted to truly master a procedure, I needed to consistently handle high volumes of those specific cases.

I later attended a conference in Las Vegas, where a session on medical marketing really caught my attention. It helped me understand how to attract the right kind of patients. So, I started a website. In the early days, we’d get just a couple of inquiries per week. Now, we receive 15 to 20 leads a day. It’s been a gradual journey—over 15 to 16 years—growing from a passionate young surgeon to someone who now trains others in cosmetic surgery across India and internationally.

Chennai seems to have become a hub for plastic surgery. What sets it apart?

Dr. Karthik Ram:
Chennai has a strong reputation in the global medical community. Say you’re a doctor from Chennai anywhere in the world, and you’re instantly respected thanks to the standards our seniors have set.

We’ve treated patients from all over Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and the US mainly because of two reasons: lack of advanced facilities in their own countries, and the affordability of treatment in India. Cosmetic surgery here can cost a fraction of what it does abroad.

Even as more countries build expertise, India remains a cost-effective option. And when people choose India, they look for trusted doctors often leading them to Chennai. We also specialize in certain procedures like male breast correction, multiple lipomas, rhinoplasty, and large-volume fat transfers. We've published papers and developed techniques that aren't widely available elsewhere, and that continues to draw patients to us.
