More than 500 employees dressed in full Batman costumes gathered outside the headquarters of oil and gas company, Nexen the week, to raise money for charity and break a quirky world record in the process.

The minimum requirement to set the new record was 250 Batman costume wearing participants.

After the final count, and "deductions," according to Nicole Pando, a Guinness Book of World Records judge, 542 Batman clad people set a Guinness World Record for the "Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Batman."

The costumes first had to be inspected by a Guinness World Records staffer who, then authenticated the Nexen Batman clad employees as standing in the same place for five minutes, before pronouncing the group the official world record holders.
