When producing transactional direct mail, operators need technology and equipment to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance. In this episode of Ask the Experts, Information Security and Compliance Officer Dwight Springthorpe discussed the infrastructure requirements for transactional direct mail.

“Direct mail doesn’t require a specific type of infrastructure. We utilize very similar components to most corporations. We have clustered servers, SQL servers, file processing, and application servers. They house our specially written software for processing your data. In addition, we have infrastructure that utilizes firewalls. We have high-speed network switches and generators,” Dwight explained.

While there’s no one infrastructure designed for the production of transactional direct mail, it does need to have many layers to ensure business continuity and data security. “We can keep systems online during power outages with the generators in our facilities. It allows us to process your data 24 hours, seven days a week,” Dwight said.

There are more components that make the company’s infrastructure so robust and resilient, including monitoring the security of the data center and maintaining all the equipment.
