This video will use the Emerson Classic 80 Series Programmable Heat Cool Thermostat as an example. But most thermostats are programmed similarly.

5+1+1 Day Programming - model 1F80-361
5 = Monday through Friday, +1 - Saturday, +1 = Sunday

FA Setting = FAST setting - for GAS, Oil or Electric Heat
SL Setting = SLOW setting - Hot water or Steam Hydronic System
Hit PRGM and RUN simulaneously, then press HOLD will bring you to FA or SL setting. Hitting Down arrow or Up arrow switches between FA or SL settings.
Press PRGM again to save your setting.
