Difference between Concentric and Eccentric footing

This video shows the difference between concentric and eccentric footing. The concentric footing is a type of footing where the load axis is same as the footing axis, while in case of eccentric footing the load axis is different than that of the footing axis. There is always instability in the eccentric footing which needs special designing so to achieve a stable footing. Also the soil pressure is non-uniform in the case of eccentric footing while in case of concentric footing the soil pressure is always uniform. There are further two categories of eccentric footing. These are;
Uniaxial eccentric footing
Biaxial eccentric footing
