Описание к видео Enhydro agate

What you are seeing here is fluid trapped inside a cavity in a chalcedony (agate) They are known as enhydro agates. Normally these cavities are lined with quartz crystals, this one is as well I can see the reflections of crystals through the cut and polished window. If it just has an empty cavity with crystals those are known as geodes.

Well I have always thought these enhydros were pretty cool but for some reason I have never considered acquiring one, then a few weeks ago I just suddenly got the urge to get one.
I did a bit of research before I made my decision and learnt they are not quite as cool as i thought, as I wrongly believed the fluid trapped inside was possibly several millions years old, I thought it was the liquid from which the chalcedony formed from (I do have fluid inclusions in other crystals which do contain ancient liquids but those are another thing all together)

It turns out that with enhydros it is a on going process, the chalcedony is porous so water eventually can seep through and fill up the cavity, i think it does take quite a long time for that to happen so its not like someone can just throw a empty chalcedony nodule in water and create an enhydro in a few weeks. As the chalcedony is porous, now it has been removed from the ground there is no more water flowing into it and eventually it will dry out, again i think this is a slow process but I don't know how long, I cant find any info that says how long they last, i suppose it depends on the environment it is kept in, humidity, temperature would surely have an effect. Some people say you can make them last longer by keeping them stored in water.

Anyway I still went and got one as more of a scientific curiosity and I still think it is cool to have visible liquid trapped inside a stone.

I expect there is some skill involved in cutting the window to the point where you can see the bubble but not opening the chamber which would release the liquid.
