Faith has been central to Black survival, community wellbeing, cultural production, and political struggle. This conversation looks Black life, art and struggle through the lens of different Black faith traditions and explores the role faith has played in freedom making projects.

The conversation will be presented and moderated by the co-curators of Conversations in Black Freedom Studies, Jeanne Theoharis, author of The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks, and Robyn C. Spencer-Antoine, author of The Revolution has Come: Black Power, Gender and the Black Panther Party in Oakland.

Melissa Ford is Associate Professor of History at Slippery Rock University and the author of A Brick and a Bible: Black Women's Radical Activism in the Midwest During the Great Depression

Todne Thomas is Assistant Professor of African American Religions at Harvard Divinity School and the author of Kincraft:The Making of Black Evangelical Sociality

Suad Abdul Khabeer is Associate Professor and Director of the Arab and Muslim American Studies Program at the University of Michigan and the author of Muslim Cool: Race, Religion, and Hip Hop in the United States.
