In this educational video, we discuss NIS, an EU directive for the security of network and information systems. Adopted in 2016, this directive is applicable to six critical sectors: financial, energy, water, healthcare, transport, and digital infrastructure. With digital threats on the rise, organizations have experienced various attacks, including ransomware, cryptomining, and phishing, with the costs of resolving a successful attack estimated to be around 4 million euros. The EU has drawn up the NIS2 directive, expanding the mandatory measures and sectors to eleven. Member states must set out these new measures in local laws by 2024.
