The New Vistic solo album is called 'Man of Ill Repute'. It is the follow up to his recent stripped down acoustic soul baring album 'Ten Simple Songs About Death'. 'Man' is also a stripped back affair, with all vocal and guitar takes done in one take and only piano and Backing Vocals overdubbed. The album is once again a meditative experience, though it has a few more hints of the raucous live vibe that the full Vistic punk-rock band is known for. 'Pontiac Driving Man' is a bar room piano tinkler, about not fitting into to the modern world of 'tech bros' and 'Chinese AI'. 'Summerwine' is a Tom Waits style ballad apology asking for the forgiveness of a lover through wine and song. In fact the album is strewn with the quest for a spiritual or romantic forgiveness, for sins rendered or squandered. The title track 'Man of Ill Repute' is a Cash style lament which seems to offer both pride and shame in the shabby life lived. An another Vistic album about sin, death, life and love. x
