Stonemasonry - MAINSTONE CARVING - pediment springer

Описание к видео Stonemasonry - MAINSTONE CARVING - pediment springer

This video shows me making a pediment springer which is a load baring stone on the bottom corner of a pediment. It is the junction of three separate mouldings returning in three different directions. It is relatively complex, and the 'pocket' is super tight and awkward to work.
This monster started off at 2.4tons and finished just over 900kg so a lot of work removing waste material and is definitely one of, if not the largest stone I've ever worked.
The stone is a portuguese limestone which is a brilliant white and looks great when polished.
The material itself has its challenges because of its brittle and plucky nature but the finished result looks great.
Overall a fantastic job to work.

I hope you enjoy the video and please subscribe for more similar content.
