Clemson Football: Dream On Vol 3 (California Dreamin')

On January 7, 2019, the Clemson Tigers thrashed the Alabama Crimson Tide to secure their second national championship in the past three seasons, as the Tigers brought home their third overall national title in the program's history. The 44-16 final score was not indicative of how badly the Tigers beat the Tide, as Clemson held Alabama scoreless for the final 44 minutes of the game while delivering body blows and knockout shots on both sides of the ball. The Tide, who were rarely pushed in SEC play, looked flustered and bewildered in the face of the onslaught, as did Nick Saban.

Paced by true freshmen QB Trevor Lawrence and WR Justyn Ross and a dominant veteran laden defense featuring Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, and Trayvon Mullen, the Tigers began the scoring with a pick six by CB A.J. Terrell and finished the night with the longest drive in Clemson history before graciously employing the victory formation. The Clemson senior class ran its record to an all-time best 55-4, including 2 national titles, 4 ACC titles, 4 CFP appearances, and the first 15-0 record in modern college football history.

Coach Dabo Swinney has clearly established his Tigers as the premiere program in college football, as he joins Nick Saban as the only active head coaches with multiple national titles. With a ridiculous stable of talent that includes the likes of Travis Etienne, Xavier Thomas, and Tee Higgins, the Tigers look poised to continue their dominance over the ACC and their pathetic state rivals, as Clemson figures to be in the hunt for further college football playoff appearances and national titles for the foreseeable future.

While the numbers 1981, 2016, and now 2018 will remain etched in the minds of Clemson fans and along the facade of Death Valley alike forever, there remains plenty of room for future pelts, as the best is yet to come.
