On a beautiful day I headed to Preston to see my 3rd Fellsman trip of the 2014 season which this week was hauled by David Smith's jubilee 45699 Galatea.

This time I boarded the Fellsman tour and this was my first ever ride behind the jubilee since she returned to the mainline back in May 2013.

Our journey begins at Preston on board the Fellsman the tour made famous for appearing in Channel 4's Four in a Bed, ITV's The Dales and BBC's Great British Railway Journeys. We leave preston in style as 45699 was running late at that point due to a points failure at Lancaster but she was making up for lost with lesser stops to pick up passengers before arriving into Hellfield were the jubilee refueled before the climb up the long drag.

We departed Hellifield bang on time as the the 12 mile climb begins as we went past Settle Station 45699 put in a brilliant performance arriving into Appleby bang on time here at Appleby 45699 refueled once again before the final stretch at Appleby passenger who booked the optional of the ferry cruise from Ullswater to Pooly Bridge got off were there were vintage buses to take then to the ferry.

We stayed on the train to resume our journey before arriving into the boarder city of Carlisle 3 mins early.

During the layover we see 45699 moving round the station with the empty stock ready for the return journey.

We re-board the train and we departed bang on time but problems did a cure as 45699 was having trouble with her injectors but that was soon sorted and resumed the journey to appleby were the loco refueled and picking up passengers who did the optional.

We see departed Appleby and began climbing up the steep grade to Aisgill Summit before coasting down heading to blea moor tunnel and crossing over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and coast down the long drag before dropping off passengers at the same stations as the outward journey.

We soon arrived at Preston coming in 13 mins early this is were i say goodbye to The Fellsman.

Our final shot was seeing 45699 Galatea departing for Lancaster were the Fellsman terminated.

To sum up then it was a memorable experience my first ride behind a Jubilee and the first time i have been down the settle and carlisle behind steam I would recommend this trip to anyone but sadly the trips for 2014 are sold out but there is always next season in 2015.
