The Cost of Discipleship - Benny Mudzingwa - 12/05/24

Benny truly blessed us this week with such an important message for all believers about the cost of discipleship, the cost of truly following Jesus.

Mark 8:34 NIV

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me".

We don't just come into Kingdom and everything is just done, there is a price to pay when following Jesus. It is for ALL believers to pay that cost.

The redemptive mission of Christ can only be embraced by getting rid of our human effort and autonomy. As people, we want to function and do things in our own effort, our achievements, things we have done and achieved for ourselves...it's all about us. It's all I.

As born again believers, it is not about us as an individual. None of the credit of any of the things of God that He does, we claim for ourselves. It is the Lord that performs miracles, signs and wonders, we are merely vessels that the Lord uses. It is not us that does anything in our own strength or power, it is all the Lord working through and in us.

To claim any credit and recognition for ourselves is simply wrong, that will be our only reward; instead we should be giving all the credit and glory to where it is due, and that is to the Lord. Then we will store up our rewards in Heaven.

So we lay down "I". We die to self. We are not to seek the things of the flesh, those things are to be rejected. We deny ourselves and seek the will of the Lord.

We give God ALL the glory for everything we do. We are on a journey and are striving for Heaven, preparing for our eternity and destiny.

Our desire must be to know and follow Jesus!
