Painting at upfest 2022 Europe’s BIGGEST street art festival. Two years after it was meant to be on. 14 hours of painting, learnt a lot!

Extempore is unplanned, the more I learn the more I lose that looseness and that thing, being at the festival I knew I couldn't do a whole figure and get it all lining up so I tried a stencil or a make shift one,

I create portraits a lot easier and so I learnt a lot about myself, the portrait I enlarged by eye using 4 different references of different people, the wolf everyone recognised it as a wolf even though I wasn't sure if to add more contrast but because recognised and good feedback I lift it

it was amazing talking to all styles of art and finding we all have the same thought patterns, the curse of the artist, always more you can add

the time flew by even though I didn't really ever stop, 14 hours in total 9 plus 5, or whatever it was,

amazing how much you ache and feel weird from sun, paint fumes and holding yourself in positions so not to fall of the steps

lots of cold showers rest, we had wonderful 20 degrees or so, though UK 20 is hotter than other places 20 in my experience and I can burn in a. thunder storm here but be fine in 40 degree heat when I visited Asia, not sure how that works

I shall be adding artist's instagrams as and when I can but if you pause the video it should have their tag on their artworks

Anyway I digress, here is what I wrote on my social media

My finished artwork, It hasn’t quite sunk in yet that my first upfest is over. Thank you to everyone who came and said hello, have words of encouragement, added their stories and meaning to it (once out in world it’s yours, love hearing all the interpretations) , took photos and interactions. Really fun weekend outside with fellow artists doing what we love.

A little light headed from sun burn and paint fumes, and 14 hours (9 plus 4 hours constantly painting over two days) but I throughly enjoyed it and happy I had time to look around for a short while sunday before exhaustion hit.

Overall happy with the painting, many changes going away from plan and a lot learnt, it’s been over 10 years since I painted something this big live, like anything I’ll find techniques to become more proficient, already have ideas for the next one (application pending )

And what a great addition having the park!!
