Lal Gumbad, also known as the Rakabwala Gumbad, was a tomb built for Sheikh Kabir-ud-din Auliya, a disciple of Sufi saint Shaikh Raushan Chirag-i-Delhi, in 1397. The square tomb has high slanting red walls with a dome on the top. The main entrance has a pointed arch with marble bands.
The Gumbad was embroidered with a golden finial on the roof, which was stolen by dacoits, giving the building its Rakabwala name dacoits looted the gold by climbing up the iron rungs or Rakab.
Lal Gumbad was a tomb built for Sheikh Kabir-ud-din Auliya, a disciple of Sufi saint Shaikh Raushan Chirag-i-Delhi.
Built in the late 14th Century, the pre-Mughal era, the tomb is now a haunt for gamblers and addicts
The main door ended up burnt because locals would light lamps and incense inside, damaging the walls, believing it was a sacred site.
