An Astrologer's Day is a thriller, suspense short story by author R. K. Narayan. While it had been published earlier, it was the titular story of Narayan's fourth collection of short stories published in 1947 by Indian Thought Publications. It was the first chapter of the world famous collection of stories Malgudi Days which was later telecasted on television in 2006.
About the author:
As a young boy, R. K. Narayan had absolutely no use for school. "Going to school seemed to be a never­ ending nuisance each day," he once wrote. Narayan much preferred spending time with his pet monkey, who liked to hang by it's tail from the roof, and his pet peacock, who acted
as the family watchdog. Despite his aversion to school, Narayan's family placed a high value on education. But Narayan never changed his opinion that scchool was too serious.
