In recognition of the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, EducationUSA and the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor hosted a Facebook LIVE on Dec. 3, 2018. The program discussed how nearly 4,700 accredited U.S. campuses provide support to international students with disabilities studying in the United States.

Find out about legal protections for students, common accessibility and disability services on campuses, academic and non-academic accommodations, factors to consider when choosing the right U.S. college or university, and hear from an international student about overcoming the challenges, obstacles, and ultimately finding personal success studying in the United States.

Moderator: Fred Boll, EducationUSA, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Department of State
Guests: Tilly Griffiths (United Kingdom) freshman at Stanford University; Dr. Ana Palla-Kane, leads the campus IT Accessibility initiative and the University’s President’s Commission on Disability issues at the University of Maryland; Ann Cody, Special Advisor working on international disability rights in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State
