With so many brands in the world, there are only few that are known in the minds of everyone. #Cadillac may be the most iconic brand of the auto industry. Their striking designs have always attracted people from around the world. A symbol of luxury, performance and glamor, though these days, without the fins, Cadillac has managed to keep on building eye catching vehicles that capture the eye of the many, but will only be driven by the lucky few.

Welcome to the Luxury Car Report! When you need space, an #SUV is your perfect vehicle. And we do need space! So today we’re reviewing the Cadillac #SRX

The advantage of the big size of this SUV isn’t just the 69.5 cubic feet of trunk space…

It seems as if this car has more space than the universe. This thing is huge! The good thing about that is, there’s a version where you can actually fit seven people in, this one seats five. The good thing is that I’m 6’8” tall and I have so much space here. The seats are perfect. They’re firm and supportive and very comfortable and it’s very quiet inside. It’s a great car. Another nice thing about the fact it’s an SUV is that you’re seated very high above the road. You have a great overview over what’s happening around you.

And that ground clearance adds to the feel of exclusivity when you realize that you’re able to drive where others can’t go.

Where better to test this classy beast, than on the narrow canals of the Dutch city of Amsterdam? These canals were built in a time no one could even imagine something like an SUV would ever exist, but considering that a horse carriage back then could exceed the size of the Cadillac SRX, it’s a perfect fit. People just need to make way for me.

The Cadillac SRX sports a modern appearance with many features that can be considered ahead of its time. Xenon headlamps, LED tail lights, rear privacy glass dual exhaust and huge ass tires are part of the package and it gets even better on the inside.

Most surfaces in the interior of the Cadillac SRX are soft to the touch. This combined with leather, chrome and real wood gives the SRX a luxurious feel. No one will suffer from a lack of storage in the SRX: it has cupholders for the front and rear passengers and even in the trunk, and it has storage space for the smallest objects to objects the size of a refrigerator. There’s hooks everywhere to keep your stuff in place, including your jacket.

The SRX comes with a wide range of innovative features. It has an extensive board computer which shows all kinds of information and can be used to configure the car itself as well as the audio system. Extra features are automatic dimming rear view mirrors which fold down automatically when the car is put in reverse. This also activates the parking sensors. Both front seats are 8-way adjustable and have adjustable lumbar support. Both passengers can manage their own climate settings and can enjoy heated seats. The rear passengers have their own A/C adjuster as well as reading lamps. The rear A/C dial can be locked from the front roof console, which also features the buttons for the rear wiper, reading lamps and sonars for the theft deterrent system.

This SRX also features a Bose audio system with 8 speakers including a subwoofer.

The Cadillac SRX comes with two programmable keys that store all the vehicle’s settings like mirrors, seats, radio, vehicle parameters, etc. All these settings are automatically set depending on the key you use.

The first gen Cadillac SRX was available with both a V6 and V8 engine. The car we tested features the V6 engine which delivers 255 hp and 252 lb. ft. of torque which gets the mastodon from 0 to 60 in 8.1 seconds.

However, you might prefer not to push the gas pedal down too deeply, as the EPA rates for the Cadillac SRX are a rather thirsty 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

The Cadillac SRX has a strong American feel to it. The soft suspension provides a lot of comfort but wobbles rather hefty while driving over speed bumps. The SUV doesn’t feel insecure in corners however since it’s wide and heavy and doesn’t have a lot of body roll. It also performs well with a short braking distance thanks to all-wheel disc brakes and the automatic gear box is barely noticeable while shifting. The Cadillac SRX provides for a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride with lots of modern convenient features.

Basically, this thing feels like a beast. Not just because of its sheer size, but also because of its power, the nice engine sound… it’s an awesome car. On-road, this is basically a very good luxury car. Just with higher ground clearance and better traction. This car is all-wheel-drive, and basically you will need it for the snow. It’s not really meant for going off-road. Nevertheless, we’re gonna do that as well, obviously.

Though the SRX doesn’t provide genuine 4x4 capabilities, it does come with available AWD and a good enough ground clearance to take it to rougher terrains. And it does well enough in mud pools and loose sand!
