JNU polls after 4 years, ABVP using Left’s playbook of bijli, sadak, pani

The much-debated JNUSU elections took place after a hiatus of four years. In 2019, the student body polls were suspended in the backdrop of the pandemic. What makes the JNU student elections interesting this time around is right wing student organisation ABVP's moderate approach to sway student voters. For the first time, ABVP has fielded a tribal as its presidential candidate and has a mugshot of Ambedkar in its pamphlets. Meanwhile, the United Left Alliance fielded a Dalit presidential candidate for the second time since inception in 1969. The NSUI has fielded a Muslim candidate, in alignment with its national politics.
