Hey! Xander here. In this video, we’re going to take a look at the major mistakes people are making when it comes to event marketing.

A well thought out marketing campaign is essential to being able to sell tickets and engage with your audience before, during and after your event. Watch out for these 4 Marketing Mistakes Event Planners Make.
A Bad Website
Your website is the portal into your event. You want to make a lasting impression - whether it is a modern, beautiful website or something that’s more playful. You need to make sure that the site is communicating the message that your attendees need to hear.

2. Being Anti-social
Social media marketing is essential to being able to engage with your audience on a long term basis. Sure, the events that we plan do have an end date, but the relationships that we’re building with our attendees should never come to an end.

During the pre-event marketing phase, you’re really looking to build up excitement and engagement with your audience.

During the Live phase, you really want that online audience to realize that they made an awful decision not coming to your event.

And finally, during the post-event phase - you should be featuring content that was created onsite at your event, so video clips, or images, or sponsor recognition opportunities.

3. Not Driving Content
Our events are the perfect stage for us to create digital content. Whether it’s attendee interviews, or speaker presentations, or just a walkthrough of the space. You should be sharing all of this content!

And you don’t have even to create it all. You can share posts from industry influencers that might be attending your event, or from your speakers. You can pull vendor and sponsor social media posts as well so that you’re constantly providing value and staying in front of your attendees.

4. Bad Registration Process
There is nothing more off putting to an attendee than trying to go through a registration process that’s hard, clumsy and ultimately doesn’t work. If they are trying to give you their money, and you can’t take it - you’re gonna have a bad time.

There are tons of great ticket sales and registration platforms out there. Be sure that by the time you are ready to sell tickets, that platform is ready to go.

A successful event marketing campaign is really about careful thought to share whatever is relevant to your attendees. A lot of that strategy consists of low hanging fruit that you can’t afford to miss.
