LAC Standoff: India's Strategic Border Roads, Nimmu-Padam-Darcha & Daulat Beg Oldie | Ground Report

Amid the standoff with China, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is almost ready with Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road which will connect Manali to Leh making a hassle-free speedy travel for security forces. Once completed, the Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road section-a 300-km-long road axis would help give the forces rapid access to Leh. This new all weather road which is 90% ready, will be open in 12 months for year round operation. So, as the construction work is in full swing, India Today brings this ground report from the Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road.
India Today also brings you an exclusive insight into the construction of an all-weather road which will connect Leh with Daulat Beg Oldie at the base of the mighty Karakoram Mountain at an altitude of 16,696 feet. The road will enable Indian armed forces to quickly transport men and equipment to LAC in Ladakh region.
