Fire near Gigean France: 300 hectares burned, blaze getting closer to Frontignan. The bushfire broke out this Sunday, August 18, shortly after 3pm. Massive ground and air resources were sent to the site to protect Gardiole's homes and surrounding area. By 7:30 p.m., 300 hectares had burned and areas north of Frontignan were evacuated. Due to the proximity to the house and the high risk of spread to the Gardiole Massif, significant resources were sent to the site, including a column of firefighters, five Canadairs, two fire bombers, one heavy water tank bomber helicopter (HBEL), a Dragon. helicopters, four Dash aircraft and eleven jungle patrol vehicles. At around 19.30, around 300 hectares had burned. Fueled by gusts of northwest wind at a speed of 50 km/h, the fire spread towards Frontignan where several houses had to be evacuated, residents who were initially directed to the Nikola Karabatic gymnasium, finally had to go to the Henri-Ferrari room, Chemin de la Calade.
