The easiest route to hike up Pen Y Fan (South Wales' tallest mountain)

Walk up Pen Y fan, the tallest mountain in south Wales, via the easiest route with us! This whole route can be completed in around 3 hours so is perfect to do with kids or lazy friends who can’t be bothered for full-day mountains. Pont Ar Daf car park is at a reasonably high elevation so it’s much easier to hike this route compared with the other major trails.

The views here are among the best in the Brecon Beacons, I love hiking this route and have done it countless times now. It makes a very good spot to hunt for sunsets and sunrises because you could hike the route easily in the dark. Just be warned, it is very popular with hikers and tourists so don’t expect an empty summit!

If you visit, please take all your rubbish home with you (if it doesn’t grow there, it doesn’t go there), and make sure you use the public toilets at the start because there isn’t anywhere else along the trail.
