If You Want To Write A Greek Mythology Retelling, DO THIS To Stand Out!

Obviously, all of this advice is OUTSIDE of the basic "do a reliable retelling" sort of thing. We have incredible authors like Natalie Haynes, Jennifer Saint and Madeline Miller already writing accurate portrayals of these ancient stories and this type of traditional retelling goes without saying. This video was aimed at those who want to do something DIFFERENT but don't know what to do in order to make themselves stand out.

Let's face it, this genre is now over-saturated. It's going to get harder for authors to make a name for themselves in this corner of publishing, but that DOES NOT MEAN it's impossible whatsoever.

If you do want to do a traditional retelling, my advice on that front would be to pick a myth that is not popular or super obvious. We have retellings of Medusa and Clytemnestra, and we're moving into the realm of Medea retellings. There are a PLETHORA of other incredible characters from Greek myth, so pick someone rouge to rewrite!
