Soooo, let's catch up! It has been just under a month since I posted my first Factor video and explained why I chose to subscribe to it for restarting Keto. It has been 2 and a half weeks since I posted a 2 week follow up and complete review of Factor Keto meals. I will link both of those videos in the cards if you haven't seen them yet.
First before we get any further, I am not sponsored by Factor 75. The opinions expressed are my own. Further more, they are not meant to be medical advice. Again, opinions expressed are my own.
Alright here we go! Deep breath, I canceled my Factor subscription. Hear me out. Today's video was supposed to be eating factor meals for a week lunch and dinner. I had even started taping the video. However, I started experiencing symptoms of no longer being in ketosis. Like, cravings, headaches, and weight loss stalling. Twice daily, I have been monitoring my glucose and ketone levels using my Keto Mojo blood meter. I began to notice that my sugar was creeping higher and my ketones were trending lower. This came to a point where I was no longer in a state of ketosis.
I will be doing a Keto progress video soon so don't forget to hit the red subscribe button and bell icon so that you will be alerted when I post more videos like this!
So here I am out of ketosis and wondering what went wrong. I immediately began to track my food intake using the carb manager app. I very quickly noticed that every Factor meal was being labled to avoid. Ummm what! I began to look closely at the nutrition facts on the back of several different meals. Net carbs were ranging between 9-14 per meal. Now, for me, I have found that I feel the best and continue losing weight is for me to stay under 15 net carbs per day. So I found the potential culprit. I noticed that when I would eat three meals a day with Factor for lunch, I was hitting around 25-30 net carbs per day. No wonder my weight loss had stalled and I fell out of ketosis!
Now, if this is your first time trying the Ketogenic lifestyle, I think Factor is a great option for transitioning. But, keep in mind, the list of ingredients is long, the meals are decent in size but for the amount of carbs compared to the protein and fats, it often leaves me hungry.
One of my concerns also is that the nutrition on the back is for the entire meal. I often choose to not eat the side dish to help save on carbs. However, doing that means I am guessing the macros of what I ate.
Cost. I used a code and saved $130 across the first 4 boxes. In my first box, one meal's tray was broken. I reached out and they were unable to replace the meal which was fine but all they were able to offer is a free meal in my first non discounted box. Which I find frustrating. I ended up canceling my subscription prior to a non discounted box and therefore, lost money. Also, the most cost effective plan is to purchase the 18 meals per week which makes each meal $11 prior to the discount. Now, with my husband taking them everyday for lunch, me eating them on average 3 days per week, that still leaves 10 meals we need to eat every week prior to the next shipment and expiration dates. I like the convenience of them, but I want the freedom to also make a taco bowl if I want, or chicken wings, or alfredo at home. We were constantly forcing ourselves to choose a Factor meal for dinner just to keep up and not waste food.
The final verdict. Overall, Factor meals are delicious! They were really helpful in our transition back to keto. They may even work for your individual needs. However, I think there are some things Factor could improve on. And unfortunately for my husband and I, they do not meet our current dietary needs.
Have you tried Factor 75 meals? Is there something I am missing? Do you have any questions? Let me know down in the comments and I will do my best to answer them.
Thanks for watching today's video! I hope to see you Friday! Bye!
