Peatland Restoration Explained

We are restoring degraded peatland across our sites in the UK, starting with our Glenaros Estate.

Peatlands are a vast natural carbon store. Degraded peatlands are releasing carbon back out into the atmosphere 20 times faster than it is being sequestered. Peatland restoration and protection is vital in our fight against climate change. All of our projects are registered with the Peatland Code, in order to verify the carbon emissions reductions made.

We work alongside organisations such as Peatland ACTION in order to achieve the highest standard of restoration and monitoring. Peatland restoration forms one part of our integrated land management approach.

We work at a landscape scale, maintaining best practice in land management by increasing biodiversity, planting the right tree in the right place and encouraging community access across all our sites.
