The Javan leopard (Panthera pardus melas) is a subspecies of leopard native to the Indonesian island of Java. It is the apex predator of Java due to the extinction of the Javan tiger (P. tigris sondaica). They usually measure around 1.6 metres (5-6ft) long and weigh between 50-70kg for large males.

It is sadly endangered, with a population between 350 and 525 individuals left in the wild. It one of the rarest type of leopards.
