SWEETPEA UPDATE
Sweetpea is missing the ball which sits in the hip socket on her right leg - as in it is not there at all. Either because it never formed or because it died when she was still inutero and was reabsorbed by the body. To be determined on whether this causes problems with her hips or spine as she grows. Currently her femur is sitting on top of her hip.

Her funky toes: need to be kept an eye on; they may need to be removed or they may be no issue.

Nicole at Pawsitive Beginnings Inc will be adopting Sweetpea. Pawsitive Beginnings deals with handling a lot of special need foxes. She has so far taken in solely furfarm rescues and primarily ones with special needs from SAF.

🦊A lot of small animals have this problem and develop muscles that support the function the normal hip does. A quasi hip. Since they are lightweight animals, she will be OK. Our cat had that condition and did fine without pain from it. The older she get, the less pain she will have.as the muscle’s develop around the hip joint, she will be able to support more weight.

Dogs with hip dysplasia and unilateral dislocation can live if the other leg is not too severely hit. Then there is a severe muscular atrophy of the thigh. Compensation occurs with musculation of the shoulders.
