Propane Refrigerator. NO ELECTRICITY REQUIRED

This is a propane refrigerator. Someone I talked to awhile back had no idea that these existed. Then the question was raised, "How much gas do they use?" That'll depend on the manufacturer's specs and how much you open the door. Some off-gridders want the cheapest option that there is. Cheapest isn't always the best option and can cost more in the long run. "Don't cheap yourself to death."


I knew a couple who bought an electric fridge thinking that they could power it at their off grid camp on an island with their solar system (with no southern exposure for the panels...so they were facing East, somewhat North East). They sold their propane fridge to another camp owner on the island. After the purchase of the electric one and the hassle of transporting it by boat, then getting it ashore, dragging it uphill to their camp and installing it....they found out that they didn't have the power capacity to run it. (Sounds pretty good for a Master Electrician right?) They had to remove it and haul a new propane fridge to their camp. Rather than doing this tedious process once, they hauled THREE fridges on to the island and had to haul the useless electric fridge back off the island. Oh....and they bought THREE refrigerators. Sounds like fun huh?
