Kurzweil K 2500 is an advanced version of famous K2000 but with doubled polyphony. K2500 has the same VAST (Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology) synthesis as K2000 which can take any waveform (ROM or sampled into RAM) and process it thru 31 synthesis DSP algorithms.

Kurzweil K2500R specifications:
- 48 voices (or 24 stereo), 192 Oscillators
- V.A.S.T. synthesis: 60 DSP functions, 8 MB Internal ROM sounds (expandable to 28 MB: 8 MB Orchestral board, 8 MB Contemporary board and 4 MB Stereo Grand Piano board)
- Multitimbral: 16 parts
- Sampler: Up to 128 MB of Sample RAM
- Sequencer: 32 Track sequencer, 16 songs, 16 arrangement tracks
- Effects: Internal FX (31 programmable DSP algorithms) + Optional KDFX Reverbs and effects with Digital I/O
- 238 Presets in ROM, 200 User in RAM
- MIDI, Dual SCSI Ports
