The purpose of fasting, or temporarily abstaining from the input of food, is not because we want to deny ourselves something. It is, quite simply, that we don’t want to fall into the animal category. We want what we want consciously, without being run by our hormones or chemistry.

Hunger is fired chemically, and hormones are chemistry. If everything we want is chemically fired, namely, if the focus and direction of our Life Energy is perpetually fired chemically, we’re living identified with physicality, believing we're merely a body. That is the epitome of animality. There is nothing wrong with the animal category—it’s not something bad—but there is more to a human being than living compulsively.

Living compulsively means living cyclically. And living cyclically means living in circles. If one cycles around in circles, there’s no question of detachment from sensory gratification, freedom from separation, or ultimate liberation, which is actually everyone's final destination, no matter how perceivably long it takes in terms of linear duration.

If a circle is made large enough, most people won’t know they’re in perpetual rotation. A cyclical process may give the impression of progress; it can trick us into thinking we're getting someplace; however, in practice, it means living life in installments. That's what it means to move in circuits. If our focus, innards, and direction of life are chemically fired, either by hunger, desire, or hormones, how can we explore the unknown? If the comfortable familiar is all that is known, how can we break free from a comfort zone?

Whatever we reap is surely sown. So we want to make sure the food we eat is organically grown. We want to know that what we eat becomes the body and is potentially transmuted into mind and Spiritual Energy, and thus, accordingly, consume foods that contribute to comprehensive purity. Otherwise, taking in noxious substances and consuming toxins can reduce life's quality and keep us entrapped, identified, and focused on physicality.

Focus requires energy. And if one perpetually takes in unnecessary impurities, is it likely that the energy in the body at twenty will be the same as at forty? On the contrary, body energy will dwindle in quality. Hence the importance of eating simply, properly, locally, organically, and exercising regularly. If a man loses money, it isn't a weighty difficulty. But if, by eating unwittingly, he ceases to be healthy, the loss is much more heavy. Luckily, the resilience of the human body is exceptional.

Every cell, every element is programmed for health. With proper care and knowledge, the body can readily repair itself. We don't need anything outside of our own Self. Of course, a physician or proficient person can help, but ultimately, the body is governed by Divinity, the creative Life Force Energy, which is ever within one's Self.

The essence of any trustworthy philosophy is that a man can so live that his health, happiness, and peace depend as little as possible on external affluence, whether it be sweets, treats, or fine eats, even holistic medicine. For man is not defined by his possessions. If his body and mind aren't in optimal condition, if his person isn't enlightened, enlivened, and purified, how can he protect, provide, and remain a positive-thinking, youthful human?

By fasting, one can become a true man, and even develop extrasensory perception. The brain becomes very keen, which makes it easy to find solutions to problems that formerly caused apprehension. He happily says goodbye to fearful expectation and anticipation, as there is no longer any anxiety or nerve-exhausting worrying. He lives freely, with a surrendered mentality, in a serene way of being, which is, quite simply, a state of allowing. He is at peace with himself, the world, and everything. Fasting is surely a blessing. It is a key to spiritually progressing.

As one purifies the body and thinking, we come closer to a Higher Power—our Mother-Father Creator. Fasting sharpens the mind and attunes us to the gentle inner voice of Mother Nature. This inner strength and power awakens us to our true nature; we become more aware, prepared, and empowered. Be sure, after each fast, the body, mind, and soul become alert, working better together.

Further, we live with an uninterrupted, permanent sense of peace. By going without food and water for days, even weeks, we learn to greatly appreciate, value, and reverence what Nature and Her inborn Intelligence create for us, including beeps, creeps, and others' beliefs. We even wave to the police.

On top of this, fasting awakens the (often lost) sense of how much food and water a person really needs for physical sustenance. Thus, because of their feeding habits, one may, during abstinence, at least at first, feel distress; however, as they progress, as they persist, the path becomes painless. That is, as one continues the practice, they actually learn to relish the process—the fasting “experience.”
