Centre has allowed sugar mills to divert up to 17 Lakh Tonne of sugar for ethanol production. The latest decision comes a week after the government prohibited the use of sugarcane juice and sugar syrup for making ethanol. Does the decision meaningfully change anything for the industry and what kind of impact are sugar players penciling in?
