We have reached a critical time when community apathy and a lack of empathy among influential people in Western Australia is likely to see more of our valued heritage lost.

Veterans of the television and cinema industries have slaved for years to preserve the very elements that not only tell the story, but demonstrate it by exhibiting the items that made it all possible.

We are now in the situation where all this may be lost if a new home cannot be found to store and exhibit this remarkable collection.

The collection kept in the Pictures in Motion Museum of Film and Television represents a vast range of memorabilia dealing with everything involved in the pictorial entertainment, through cinema and television.

Not only at the professional level, but also at the home and consumer level.

There are cinema projectors of every vintage from the silent era, to 70mm and modern digital projection, to many reels of feature films, movie posters, theatre and drive-in history and many associated historic photos.

Every facet of television studio facilities to home video recorders and receivers are represented. Studio cameras, news gathering cameras, robotic camera pedestals, tele-cine chains, videotape machines, microphone booms, autocue, vision and sound mixers, lighting, presentation consoles, to television news desks.

The collection is thus a most valuable documentation of how our lives have been impacted by this remarkable technology, with many photos and footage recording the events which have unfolded and the people responsible for making it all happen.

We welcome all industry veterans, current employees, film makers, students or hobbyists to participate in our activities by joining the museum and lobby for its preservation.
