In this video, we will learn about A.C. Power Loss Through Resistor, focusing on how energy is consumed by a resistor when connected to an AC source. A resistor is a basic circuit element that opposes the flow of charges through its resistance, converting electrical energy into heat.

We begin by examining how alternating voltage changes in magnitude and polarity over time, and how this results in an alternating current through the resistor. In a pure resistive circuit, the current and voltage are always in phase, meaning they rise and fall together. This consistent relationship leads to continuous energy dissipation in both the positive and negative half cycles of the waveform.

The concept of power is then introduced, and we explain how to calculate instantaneous power and average power loss in AC circuits. Unlike inductors or capacitors, resistors do not store energy—they convert all of it into heat, resulting in real power loss.
