In this vlog episode of In the Kitchen with Matt I will tell you how I lost weight quickly. I lost 20 pounds in 1 month! I had a request for tips on how to lose weight quickly on another social media platform that I am on and since I have some experience with this I thought I would post about it. Please keep in mind I am not a dietician or a medical doctor, so take the information I give with a grain of salt. All I know is it definitely work well for me, and maybe it can work well for you. :) Let's get started!

A few years ago I got out of the shower and wasn't liking how I looked in the mirror. haha. So I decided to do something about it. Then a few days later I was at my brothers house and he was telling me about this book he had called "Clean Gut". I read some of the basics in the book and decided to give a few things a try. Below are the steps I took as well as the results.

Step 1. Changed my diet.
I drastically changed my diet. I cut out all cookies, cakes, pies, ice cream, chips, hamburgers, hot dogs, and any other junk food. (I love that stuff, but gave it up for a time). Then I ate a ton more vegetables and fruits. I wasn't sticking strictly to the gut cleanse that is suggested in the book, but a modified one. I went from eating 2 servings of vegetables a day to around 12! I was always drinking lots of water, so that didn't change. Below is what I ate.

Sample meal for breakfast (I pretty much did this every morning) - 7:30 am
Green Smoothie
1 cup of mixed berries (blue berries, raspberries, blackberries - no strawberries because their sugar content is higher)
1 cup of almond milk
1 large handful of spinach
1 large handful of kale (if I ran out of kale I added more spinach)
2 Tablespoons of Almond butter
2 teaspoons of ground flaxseed
Extra filtered water as needed

10:30 Snack
Apple with Almond butter (a tablespoon or two)

12:00 Lunch
Large plate of raw vegetables and protein
1 Handful of baby carrots
1 Handful of baby bell peppers
1 handful of broccoli
1 handful of cut cucumber
2 hardboiled eggs, or 1 small grilled chicken breast, or 1 can of tuna

3:00pm Snack
1 handful of almonds
1 hardboiled egg

6:00pm dinner sometimes it was 5:30 :)
Sometimes I ate exactly the same meal that I had for lunch or I would mix it up by making a salad.
Dinner Salad
1 handful of spinach or kale
carrots
cucumber
tomatoes
broccoli
bell peppers
diced ham, chicken, or hardboiled eggs. Once in awhile for a treat I would add a little bit of cheese and like 1 or 2 strips of bacon, cut up. lol :)

8:30 or 9 snack
3 or 4 cups of popcorn, no butter, just salt

9 to 12 cups of water throughout the day if not more.

8 hours of sleep each night.

So after following this diet which completely transformed the way I was eating, I also upped my calorie burn. I went country dancing a couple times a week, I played basketball twice a week, I worked out 4 times a week for about 1.5 hours, which included cardio.

The result - After doing this I lost right around 17 pounds in 20 days, and then another 3 pounds the next week. So about 20 pounds in 4 weeks or so. It was pretty awesome, I felt healthy, had lots of energy, and didn't feel sluggish or hungry throughout the day, and I slept better at night.

Do I still do that diet now? No. lol The pull of sweets and treats and baked goods and other delicious foods has gotten a hold of me again. But I do watch my portions, still drink lots of water, still eat lots of veggies, just not as strict as I was, so I put on more weight, about half of the weight that I lost. And I am okay with that.

To sum up, once again I am not a dietician, I am not a medical doctor, but the above plan worked for me, maybe it can work for you. If you wind up trying it, let me know how it works for you.
