A sword from the last battle of the Hundred Years War? With Keeper of Edged Weapons, Henry Yallop

Join Keeper of Edged Weapons and Armour, Henry Yallop as he examines a 15th century, two-handed sword with a possible connection to the 1453 Battle of Castillon, a French victory which marked the end of the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453). This sword, pulled from the Dordogne River in 1973, is one of a group of 80 known as the ‘Castillon Hoard’.

The sword is made more fascinating as it’s recently been recreated as part of a partnership alongside Matt Easton and Windlass swords, which Henry shows side-by-side to the original for the first time.
