For the past 13 months, pirate activity has increased tenfold throughout the Outer Colonies with its highest concentration being on the Avalon slipspace corridor. This region is one of three major sector hubs for slip-space travel between the inner and outer colonies hosting several resupply stations.

While there are no habitable worlds within, the corridor is home to several civilian habitation centres on many of the moons to assist in facilitating commercial travel.

While UNSC and CMA warships are prone to patrol the several systems along this route, the region has seen a spree of pirate ambushes on civilian freighters and military targets alike.

Section I of the Office of Naval Intelligence believes this may be either indicative of escalation in the region or a ploy to tie down Navy assets for a more organized insurrectionist effort in the outer colonies.

Regardless of circumstance the UNSC Navy have begun pulling Navy assets away from colonies that border the region and put together a task force to clear the pirates out.
