Kent Jones on His Narrative Debut Diane, Criticism, and Curation

Kent Jones discusses his narrative directorial debut Diane, his female-led ensemble, criticism, and curation with Eugene Hernandez, Deputy Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, at a special sneak preview.

Mary Kay Place (The Big Chill, Being John Malkovich) gives a career-defining performance in Kent Jones’s narrative feature debut. Diane (Kay Place) lives alone in western Massachusetts and spends most of her time caring for her friends and family, including her son (Jake Lacy), who has spent his adult life in and out of rehab. As the people closest to her gradually change and disappear over time, a past misdeed continues to smolder until Diane’s solitude—and the film itself—opens to new levels of acuity. Diane is a thoroughly lived-in, exquisitely textured drama deeply attuned to the emotions, visions, and spirituality of its protagonist. An IFC Films release.
