Karnataka's Mandya Bandh over Cauvery Dispute | @Vistaranewsenglish

Protests erupted in the Cauvery heartland of Mandya after the Supreme Court refused to interfere with orders of the CWMA and CWRC directing Karnataka to release 5,000 cusecs of water to TN for the next 15 days On September 23. Mandya closed due to a bandh called by pro-Kannada organizations and farmer associations over the Cauvery issue. Mandya Bandh has been called by Mandya Hitha Rakshana Vedike. (Save Mandya Forum) Bus services will not operate, and shops and businesses will remain closed as well. Milk, medical supplies, and hospitals are open. Security arrangements have been tightened in Mandya in view of the protest.
